Prof S S Chakraborty, Chairman
Prof S.S Chakraborty an eminent civil engineer, is Chairman-cum-Managing
Director, Consulting Engineering Services (India) Private Limited - CES. He is an
accomplished internationalist and a public intellectual. He has planned, designed
and implemented many prestigious projects in the infrastructure sector including
transportation, housing, water resource, power and health across the world.

the world. Prof Chakraborty has to his credit a number of iconic bridges, expressways
& highways, as well as projects related to integrated water resources development
& management, urban conglomerations and a wide variety of renewable power projects,
among others. Prof Chakraborty, as an academician, established an institution to
offer training to in-service engineers in the water resources sector for planning,
development and implementation at the basin level. As Founder member and the Vice
Chairman of Government of India's Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), Prof Chakraborty
worked towards enlarging the knowledge base of the consultancy organizations and
was instrumental in introducing a unique post graduate course leading to MS degree
by CDC in association with BITS Pilani for practicing engineering professionals,
the focus being on consultancy management. Further, as AICTE-INAE Distinguished
Visiting Professor he has delivered lectures at various academic institutions such
as IITs, BESU, Delhi Technical University over the past decade. He is currently
the Chairman of the Concessionaire Company of the international award-winning flagship
bridge Nivedita Setuat Kolkata. This bridge garnered the award for innovative design
in the international bridge category by the American Segmental Bridge Institute,
ASBI, in 2007. Institution of Civil Engineers - ICE (UK), the world's oldest engineering
learned body, of which Prof Chakraborty is a Fellow, awarded him Gold Medal 2007
for "Civil Engineering Excellence" - considered the Engineering Nobel.
That is the first time ever an Indian has been so honored. In 2007, The International
Association of Bridge & Structural Engineering - IABSE, a Zurich headquartered
professional organization, conferred upon him Honorary Membership for his distinguished
service to his profession. Most recently Prof Chakraborty, has been the recipient
of "Life Time Contribution Award in Engineering 2011" by the Indian National
Academy of Engineering - INAE. The Academy is the apex body of eminent engineering
professionals - academicians, researchers, and doyens of industry - engaged in the
projection and promotion of engineering profession nationally & internationally.
For distinctions and acknowledgements of Prof Chakraborty's contributions in his
profession and beyond, here is a shortlist: The Shelter Promotion Council (India)
honored him with the Shelter Award in 2001 that attested to his deep involvement
in social issues - "Exemplary Contribution to National Development, International
Understanding, Enrichment of Life" - a true public persona and standing testament
to his ardent advocacy of sustainability; the Institution of Engineers (India) felicitated
him as an "Eminent Civil Engineer" for his services to the cause of engineering
at the Indian Engineering Congress in 2005; the Consulting Engineers Association
of India's Scroll of Honor for "Lifetime Contribution to the Engineering Consultancy
Profession", 2005; Silver Plaque from the Federation of Indian Export Organizations
(FIEO) in recognition of his contributions to promoting export of Indian consultancy.
He has also been selected for the ICI-Torsteel Life Time Achievement Award (E) to
be conferred upon him shortly. The Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur
- BESU, recognized Prof Chakraborty as a "Distinguished Alumnus" at the
Convocation during its sesquicentennial celebrations, and is also Member (Court),
BESU. The Government of Maharashtra felicitated him for his visionary zeal in setting
things right in the aftermath of the Latur earthquake devastations. Prof Chakraborty's
voice has an anima of its own. He has delivered invited lectures of significance
at various national and international fora, including at the ITC, Geneva in 1994
and 1996, and at UNIDO, Vienna in 1995. He has led several professional delegations
sponsored by the government and international organizations. He has been a delegate
at the World Economic Forum on several occasions promoting trade in services, particularly,

Mr Srikumar Ghosh is a founder promoter of CES Technologies Private Limited. He
is an Engineering graduate (Gold Medalist) from Kolkata University (1955) and thereafter
did his Post-Graduation from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London.
He is a Fellow Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (UK); the Institution
of Civil Engineers (UK) and the Institution of Engineers (India).
He is recipient of "Eminent
Engineer" conferred by the Institution of Engineers (India). He is an awardee
by Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) for "Life Time Achievement".
He has served as the International Vice President of International Navigation Association
(PIANC) and later been honoured to be a Honorary Vice President. He has also served
as Hony. Secretary of IStructE (UK). He has been the Area Representative of IStructE
(UK) since 1995. He has been serving as Director of many other enterprises dealing
with engineering and consultancy. He has served as President of many Consultancy
